Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings within the scope of the Subject-Based World University Rankings (THE by Subject) evaluation, has succeeded in being ranked in three fields for the first time by being included in two new disciplines in 2026.

This result is a concrete indicator of MAKÜ's commitment to research quality, academic collaborations, and social impact.

We thank all our stakeholders behind this success.

What is the Subject-Based World University Rankings (THE by Subject)?
• It is a ranking conducted by THE based on disciplines according to specific criteria sets for evaluating world universities. Unlike the general world ranking, it focuses on specific subjects to show in which areas universities are strong. These rankings compare universities worldwide in 11 main subjects (education studies, life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, law, medicine and health sciences, etc.) in terms of research output (scientific publications, citations, international collaborations, industry income, and student/academic diversity, etc.) and international collaborations to show in which areas institutions stand out.

Why is it important?
• Achievements obtained on a subject basis are a direct indicator of how competitive and open to development the university is in certain areas on the international stage. The rankings make significant contributions to the university's international visibility and potential collaboration efforts.
